Our New Project Coordinator Ensures Customer Satisfaction Every Time!

According to Wikipedia, project management is “the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time.” That’s what Dana Walter has been hired to do for Shelter Works’ oil, natural gas and telecom customers (among others).

Dana comes to Shelter Works with a wealth of project management experience from her work at Equifax, NW Sign Industries and Fastsigns. While some aspects of the job are allowing her to learn about new areas (like breakers and electrical components), the processes used for project management are very similar to the work she did for the sign industry in Texas.  This has allowed for a smooth transition; Dana has gotten up to speed very quickly. Melany Pearia, who oversees the project management group, said “Dana has been a great addition to our team. She is an experienced project coordinator, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. She is learning very quickly, and bringing fresh ideas already. Shelter Works is very lucky to have her on board!”

When we asked Dana why she was drawn to the Shelter Works Project Coordinator job opportunity, she explained, “I just love the manufacturing-level project management work, and the people are great. It’s fun to work with the customers to make sure everything is done properly, and I love seeing a tangible product come to fruition.”

Project management is used every day at Shelter Works to ensure the highest level of customer service possible. Those who work in that department focus on making sure the customers’ buildings get built exactly according to their specification and agreed-upon time frames. This work includes:

  • Being responsible for executing Shelter Works order fulfillment process from purchase order to shipment
  • Maintaining working relationships with clients, manufacturer representatives, outside engineers, and third-party service providers
  • Being familiar with client-led or Shelter Works-generated drawings and specifications
  • Coordinating and tracking submittal drawings and engineered stamp drawings with CAD department, clients and necessary third parties
  • Monitoring and reporting to clients on project progress throughout the entire process
  • Implementing any client-directed changes
  • Clearly communicating delivery timeframes

Welcome Dana!

Dana is a native Texan but lives in St. Louis with her 8-year old daughter, Amelia. When Dana is not on the phone, talking with a client about their drawings or specs or a permit, she can most likely be found taking her daughter to Girl Scouts, taekwondo classes, the St. Louis Zoo or one of the many museums in town.

Welcome, Dana!
