This particular building is being made for a school district in California. They had an electrical panel, a large electrical panel, high voltage, outside, in the elements, unprotected, and unsecured. And this prefabricated equipment shelter is going to provide that protection and security but they had site footprint constraints. They were concerned that they wouldn’t be able to put the building over the enclosure and then still have the doors swing open because of other equipment that was nearby.
So, because we’re a custom fiberglass shop, we came up with a custom solution for that. Our engineers suggested a sliding door. So this sliding door gives them the access they need without interfering with the equipment that’s nearby.
So the electrical panels will be in here against the back wall and they each have a door that’ll be opening out into the space, which is why it needs to be this deep. Next to the panels, there is going to be a big pipe coming in through the wall here. So this will be cut out, the building will be dropped down over the pipe, and then that piece will be fit around the pipe again and kind of custom fit.
So by coming up with this sliding door solution, we’re going to give the client the safety, security, and weather protection they were looking for in an attractive, long-lasting package. So if you have a custom prefabricated equipment shelter you need, call our engineers. Remember, if it was built by Shelter Works, it was built for life.
